The Minister of Economy has presided the inauguration of the new plant of Pinto Brasil Group, in Guardizela, Guimarães. This important group from Guimarães was established in 1991 and since then has dedicated its activity to the development of engineering technical solutions in order to satisfy its customers’ needs.
Specialized in the metalworking sector, Pinto Brasil develops solution for the wiring industry and industrial logistics, highly oriented to automotive and aeronautic sector. The company is in compliance with the highest standards and stands as one of the most important supplier of some of the biggest worldwide companies, such as car manufacturers and its main suppliers.
Pinto Brasil has a success story as it is proved by its presence in several parts of the world.
Pinto Brasil Group exports more than 90% of its total production for the worldwide market and employs more than 350 people. The new plant in Guardizela, that has been recently inaugurated, exports 90% of its production, around 15 million Euros were invested in it and it has around 10 thousand square meters.
The ceremony started with a guided visit to the facilities and the Minister of Economy, António Pires de Lima, the mayor of Guimarães, Domingos Bragança and several regional political leaders took part in it. It was followed by the unveiling of the plaque and the facilities were blessed by Reverend Cónego Mendes. According to the protocol, the opening speeches have begun with Pinto Brasil Group’s CEO, Manuel Pinto Brasil that has made an emotional speech and thanked his family, especially his father and wife for its empire.
“I want to thank my family for the support, especially to my father, my wife and my children. We believe that we are meant to go on with this ambition that keeps growing and that excellence is not an act, but a habit”. In addition, António Pinto Brasil – plant manager – mentioned that “the current economic situation is quite demanding so Pinto Brasil is required to have a leading position in a market that allows it to win and become a player that stands out of its business area. We proudly inaugurate these facilities, a crucial landmark in the history of this company and industrial group that, only with 22 years of existence has reached a distinguished reputation”.
The mayor of Guimarães, Domingos Bragança, was visibly delighted to see that our region still has its value and is able to implement economic forces which are indispensable to its growth. “You can count on the city council of Guimarães. These projects value the region and the country. These sorts of ventures are highly commended because they still manage to emerge through this economical crisis”. The minister of economy, António Pires de Lima, enhanced that deficit reduction is due to companies like Pinto Brasil. “We live in a moment of economic turning point and consequently employment creation. Setting up in difficult circumstances has an added value and it shows love towards motherland.
Until the end of 2015, Pinto Brasil Group foresees for its new plant in Guardizela the duplication of annual turnover, as well as job creation around 75 people”, he concluded.
